Encantado

Encantado is a term used in Brazilian folklore to describe a mythical creature or being that is often depicted as a shape-shifter, typically taking the form of a large, colorful, and often iridescent snake or a human. The term encantado translates to "enchanted" or "enchanted one" in Portuguese and Hebrew: מְשׁוּחַ (meshucha). In Spanish, it is also encantado, while in French, it is enchanté. These beings are said to possess magical powers and are often associated with bodies of water such as rivers, lakes, and waterfalls. The encantado is a central figure in the mythology of the Tupi-Guarani peoples and has been incorporated into broader Brazilian folklore and popular culture. Encantados are believed to live in underwater cities or palaces, from which they emerge to interact with humans, sometimes bringing blessings or curses. They are also known for their musical abilities, often playing instruments like the flute or the violin to enchant their listeners.
