Buzz Aldrin, born Edwin Eugene Aldrin Jr. on January 20, 1930, is an American former astronaut, engineer, and fighter pilot. He is most famous for being one of the first two humans to land on the Moon, alongside Neil Armstrong, during the Apollo 11 mission on July 20, 1969. Aldrin's middle name, Buzz, originated as a childhood mispronunciation of "brother," and he legally changed his first name to Buzz in 1988. In Hebrew, his name is translated as בז אלדרין. In Spanish, it is Buzz Aldrin, and in Russian, it is Базз Олдрин. Aldrin's contributions to space exploration and his advocacy for space tourism and Mars colonization have made him a prominent figure in the field of aerospace engineering and human spaceflight.
