Biblical gematria (Hebrew: גימטריה ביבלית, gimatria bivlitit) is a form of Jewish numerology that assigns a numerical value to each letter of the Hebrew alphabet, often used to derive hidden meanings and connections within the Hebrew text of the Bible. The practice is based on the fact that the Hebrew script is abjad, where letters originally represented numbers, and thus words can be reduced to numbers, and different words with the same numerical value are seen as connected. This method is used to find hidden meanings, interpret biblical texts, and explore the mystical aspects of the Hebrew scriptures. In Greek, the term is often referred to as "gematria" (Γηματρία), and in Arabic, it is known as "jabr" (جبر). The practice has been used throughout Jewish history, particularly in Kabbalistic traditions, to uncover deeper layers of meaning in the biblical text.
This site lets you convert words, names, and phrases into numerical values using different gematria systems. You can use the main calculator gematria tool at the top of the page: type your text, choose a method, and press Convert.
The calculator gematria tool supports multiple alphabets and standard letter–number mappings. More systems will be added in the future.
The reverse gematria calculator uses the same alphabet as the standard system but assigns values in reverse order (for example, A = 26, B = 25, …, Z = 1 in a basic English reverse setup). This lets you compare standard and reverse values for the same text.
Enter the word Biblical Gematria and press enter or button Convert. This will provide all selected gematria values for Biblical Gematria.
The site is designed to be compatible with common online tools and calculators, including the shematria gematria calculator and other popular gematria tools.
