Benedict Arnold (1741-1801) was an American military officer who served the American Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War, later defecting to the British Army. Born in Connecticut, Arnold initially fought for the American cause and was known for his bravery and leadership, notably in the capture of Fort Ticonderoga in 1775. However, his later actions, including his attempt to surrender the fort at West Point to the British, cemented his legacy as a traitor in American history. In Hebrew, his name is translated as בנדיקט ארנולד. In French, he is referred to as Benedict Arnold, and in German, as Benedict Arnold. Arnold's defection remains one of the most infamous acts of treason in U.S. history, and his name has become synonymous with treachery.
